Get ready to cheer on the USA and other countries for the 2012 Summer Olympics, but you can also dive further and cheer for your favorite “out” Olympian. SBnation recently published a list of 21 openly gay and lesbian London Olympians. The publication compares this to 11 in Athens and 10 in Beijing. We applaud all the athletes for their courage to represent the gay and lesbian community so proudly. As reported by SB nation, the “out” Olympians getting ready to compete are:

FUERTE MEN OLYMPIAN SPOTLIGHT:  Matthew Mitcham (Australia, diving) photo above – Mitcham won gold at the 2008 Olympics. Fellow Australian Olympians Russell and Lauryn Mark of the shooting team complained that they couldn't stay together in the Olympic village, saying it was anti-heterosexual discrimination and that gay couples could stay together. Mitcham spoke out against them on Twitter saying.

"Since there were only 11 out gays across all nations (in 2008), I’d hardly consider that a ton. Known couples are split anyway. The last thing I need is a sexually frustrated breeder with a shotgun being cross with me. No comment, thank you very much!!"
